A climate reform that delivers the magic 70 percent

Small Great Nation is ready with a plan to achieve the goals of the new Danish climate legislation. A high consistent tax on greenhouse gases is central to achieving the ambitious goals and will be the cheapest solution. Our proposal discourages the relocation of businesses and ensures social balance.

With the political agreement on the climate legislation, Danish politicians are legally obliged to ensure the realization of Denmark's green transition by reducing the country's CO2e emissions by 70 percent in 2030 - compared to 1990. By 2050, Denmark must be completely climate-neutral according to the new climate legislation.

In this proposal for a climate-reform, Small Great Nation seeks to deliver a concrete roadmap to reach this ambitious goal.

This report deals with how the green transition can be realized by keeping costs as low as possible while counteracting leakage and, at the same time, avoiding that the transition has a disproportionately negative impact on those with the lowest incomes.

It is our hope that this report will help to ensure that the upcoming climate plan will be based on long-term sustainable principles that will ensure that Danish climate efforts will wors as efficiently as possible, taking into account the other political objectives of the climate legislation.
